The full-size pickup market is a competitive segment of the vehicle market, and the Ford F150 maintains a place at the front of the competition. Offering best-in-class payload for the F150 XL regular cab and best-in-class towing for the F150 XL SuperCrew, Ford builds trucks that perform. The 2019 Ford F150 is built for long-term durability as well.
2019 Ford F-150 The Construction
The Ford F150 has a frame made of 78 percent high-strength steel with large cross sections holding it together. The components of the frame are manufactured using a roll-forming fabrication process which minimizes weight and makes the frame approximately 60 pounds lighter than previous F150 frames. Sitting on top of the durable frame is a body made from a heat-treated and hardened aluminum alloy. This high-strength, military-grade alloy forms a strong yet lightweight body and bed that is both flexible and durable. Another benefit of using the aluminum alloy construction is it is resistant to dings, dents and corrosion caused by red rust.
2019 Ford F-150 The Bed
The bed of the F150 can be equipped with features that make loading, unloading and hauling cargo easier. Available is the Ford BoxLink system which adds additional tie down locations by utilizing die-cast zinc cleats that attach and lock into four locations within the truck bed. Using the cleats gives a total of eight tie down locations for cargo. Using the cleats also improves the organization of the cargo space. Available LED box lights provide task lighting for loading or unloading in the dark. An available integrated tailgate step allows easier access to the cargo area which makes loading, tying down and unloading a less daunting task. Deployable box side steps also make accessing the box an easier task. When available, stowable loading ramps allow cargo to be rolled right into the bed. When equipped with a remote tailgate release the tailgate can be locked, unlocked or lowered at the touch of a button.
2019 Ford F-150 The Engine
The Ford F150 offers six different engines in three configurations for consumers to choose the level of performance they need. Depending on the model, the engine configurations are naturally aspirated V6 and V8 gas engines with twin-independent variable cam timing, turbocharged and direct-injected gas EcoBoost V6 engines and a 3.0 liter Power Stroke TurboDiesel engine.
