Standard Features

In every explorer trim, you’ll find seating for up to seven passengers, curve control technology, and as much as 81.7 cubic feet of cargo space available when all of the rear seats are folded down. The curve control capability helps drivers handle sharp turns safely. If the Explorer detects that you’re entering a turn too quickly, it will automatically slow the vehicle for safer handling. All Explorer models also come with an independent front and rear suspension, hill start assist, and a rearview camera.

XLT

If you’re looking for a base trim level with some upgraded features, the XLT trim offers great perks inside and out. On the exterior, you’ll get LED automatic headlights and taillights, roof rack side rails, and heated side mirrors. Inside the XLT you’ll be welcomed with leather accents, a 60/40 split folding second-row seat, and a 50/50 split folding third-row seat.

You’ll get some serious power thanks to the XLT V-6 engine. This 3.5-liter engine offers 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. With this engine and standard trailer sway control, you’ll be able to tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Limited 

The Limited model adds some convenience features as well as a different engine. A 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine comes equipped with this model and puts out 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque and offers a 3,000-pound towing capacity when properly equipped.

A few of the luxury and convenience features included with the Limited model include chrome exterior accents, a hands-free liftgate, LED fog lights, chrome roof rails, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. You’ll also love the voice-activated navigation system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Platinum

For top-notch features inside and out plus impressive power, the Explorer Platinum trim is a great choice. The interior will make you feel totally comforted with premium Nirvana leather with micro-perforations and quilted inserts. You’ll also get a twin-panel moonroof, heated seating in the first and second rows, and wooden accents throughout. Other features make every life easier like power folding seats, blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alert, and Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system.

With the Platinum’s four-wheel drive system and 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, you’re sure to be impressed by its power and capability. This engine creates up to 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque and offers a 5,000-pound towing capacity. The four-wheel drive system comes with hill descent control and a Terrain Management System. This system allows you to choose your ideal handling for different driving conditions.
