Hybrid cars are cars that use more than one kind of power. In most cases, that is a combination of electric and gasoline power. Hybrids are known to be fuel efficient. Like many manufacturers, Ford now offers the choice of purchasing a hybrid vehicle. For 2020, there are three vehicles in the line-up that are hybrids. Those are the Fusion Hybrid, the Explorer Limited Hybrid and the Fusion Plug-in Hybrid.

The Fusion Hybrid
The Fusion Hybrid offers you the comfort and style you’ve come to expect from a Fusion with the fuel efficiency of a hybrid. It’s estimated that the Fusion Hybrid averages 43 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway and 42 combined mpg. It is equipped with a 2.0 liter iVCT Atkinson-cycle I-4 hybrid engine. That is combined with an 88kW electric motor and an eCVT automatic transmission. The Fusion Hybrid is equipped with Ford Co-Pilot360 features as well as a SmartGuage with EcoGuide that keeps you well informed of data that affects the fuel efficiency of the car.

The Fusion Plug-in Hybrid
The Fusion Plug-in Hybrid is estimated to get around the same highway, city and combined miles per gallon as the Fusion Hybrid. It is equipped with the 2.0 liter iVCT Atkinson-cycle I-4 hybrid engine as well. The plug-in hybrid offers drivers the ability to switch between gasoline, electric or combined modes. It is estimated that you can travel in electric mode for up to 26 miles. MyView lets you customize the data you see on the SmartGuage with EcoGuide. When in Engage Mode, the left side display screens give you separate gauges with information for engine power and lithium-ion battery power. When in Empower Mode, you get the same information as when in Engage Mode plus information on the gasoline on/off threshold and how much power being used based on your accelerator usage.

The Explorer Limited Hybrid
The Explorer Limited Hybrid is a fully off-road capable SUV that has a towing capacity of up to 5000 pounds. The rear-wheel drive model is estimated to travel up to 500 miles before needing to be refilled. The 4-wheel drive model provides an estimated 450 miles per tank of gas. The rear-wheel drive model averages an estimated 27 miles per gallon in the city, 29 miles per gallon on the highway and 28 combined miles per gallon.
