The 2018 Ford Flex is an appealing model in Ford’s lineup, boasting plenty of space for your entire crew along with all of your necessary gear. Take a closer look at this unique option that is different from the traditional family-hauler.
Comfortable, Spacious Interior
When you climb into the 2018 Ford Flex, you’ll realize why it’s become a top-seller from Ford, especially among buyers with big families. The cabin is downright roomy, with space for up to seven passengers and a large third row. Even the base model comes equipped with appealing features like auto-folding second-row seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
With the next trim level, you’ll get a power-adjustable passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated seats. The top trim boasts the most luxurious cabin with wood interior trim, ambient interior lighting, and automatic windshield wipers. Available upgrades include ventilated front seats, a heated and power-adjustable steering wheel, and power-folding seats in the third row.
Impressive Technology
On the tech side, standard equipment includes a six-speaker sound system with a USB port, voice controls, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 4.2-inch central display screen. As you move through the higher trim levels, available features include Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system, which pairs with an 8-inch touch screen; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration; a premium 12-speaker Sony audio system; navigation; and HD radio.
Power and Performance
Beneath the hood of the 2018 Ford Flex, you’ll find a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 254 pound-feet of torque and 287 horsepower. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission. If that’s not enough power for you, check out the optional 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6, which is available as an upgrade on the top Limited trim. This engine pumps out 350 pound-feet of torque and 365 horsepower.
Although every model of this crossover comes standard with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive is available as an upgrade on the upper two trim levels. If you upgrade the Limited trim to include the more powerful engine, it will come with an upgrade to all-wheel drive.
Standard Safety
When you’re hauling your crew, safety is a top priority. The 2018 Flex doesn’t disappoint in this area, coming equipped with standard features like a rearview camera with backup assist grid lines, air bags mounted throughout the cabin, anti-lock brakes, and stability and traction control. Ford also includes a tire pressure monitoring system, height-adjustable front seatbelts with reminder alerts, and the safety cage construction that helps reduce crumpling in a crash.
The SEL trim is available with a package that tacks on blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. With the Limited trim, you can also add the 301A package. This includes forward collision warning, an automatic parallel parking system, and adaptive cruise control.
