Wheelin' in the Country hosts special events for holidays throughout the year, celebrated with extra park days and other surprises. Overnight visitors can take advantage of primitive campsites, full RV-hookups, or cabin rentals. Find Wheelin' in the Country at 128 Anderson Creek Road. Open weekends vary, so check the park calendar for available ride dates. Windrock Park More than 72,000 acres of off-road trail riding, windmill touring, and nature hiking awaits you at Windrock Park. You can even get in a little target practice at the Windrock Shooting Range or practice your remote-control driving skills at the Tanner Ridge R/C Park. Of course, the main attraction is the vast array of trails, which range from easy to most difficult. Trails are clearly marked, and some are restricted to dirt bikes and ATVs only. Overnight guests can utilize the park's primitive campsites, cabins, or RV sites. Located at 912 Windrock Road, the park is open 365 days a year. The Ford Ranger Raptor: The Perfect Truck for Off-Roading Adventure The 2018 Ford Ranger Raptor is specially designed for high-speed off-roading action on almost any terrain. Its two-turbo 2-liter diesel engine delivers 210 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque for quick, responsive power. Ford recently announced its 2019 lineup, and there are some surprising changes in store. The North American range has been scaled back dramatically. As sales of sedans and hatchbacks have declined, the company has enjoyed healthy increases in sales of its cornerstone F-series trucks, SUVs, and its quintessential sports car, the Mustang. As a result, Ford is reducing its lineup to reflect these numbers. According to a press release, by 2020 "almost 90 percent of the Ford portfolio in North America will be trucks, utilities, and commercial vehicles." What does this mean for Ford fans? Read on to learn more. Ford Cars While Ford is phasing out its Fusion, Fiesta, Focus, and Taurus models, it is keeping the ever-popular Mustang on the market, and it will be adding the new Ford Focus Active, a crossover hatchback that will be released sometime in 2019. Ford's vision for these vehicles is to offer them as hybrids at lower costs and with better fuel efficiency. The Mustang Hybrid will be designed to deliver the V-8-like performance its dyed-in-the-wool fans love with lower-end torque. The Focus Active will be a four-door hatchback that will effectively streamline the entire Focus lineup down to one model. more Ford Trucks The Ford F-series of trucks is its best-selling range of vehicles, and the company plans to continue that trend by adding new models and powertrains. In 2019, they will introduce a new F-Series Super Duty, and by 2020, they will debut the new hybrid F-150 featuring a mobile generator. Truck lovers will also see the return of the Ford Ranger to the midsize truck segment in 2019. Its updates include the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with Auto Start-Stop technology and plenty of driver-assist features. New versions of the Ford Escape and Explorer will debut in 2019, as well as the all-new 2019 Ford Edge, which has been redesigned with a new look and technology features. The biggest news, however, is that the Ford Bronco is returning to the company's SUV lineup after a 22-year hiatus. The Bronco will be offered in a hybrid variant as well. There will also be a new, yet to be named off-road SUV introduced in the near future. Ford Commercial Vehicles While it currently holds a commanding 38 percent share of the American commercial vehicle market, Ford plans to increase its growth in the sector in the next few years. In 2019, the company will debut a new Transit with 4G LTE connectivity, and in 2020, it will expand on its production of the E-Series. They also plan to expand offerings of driver-assist features on more commercial models. Although the announcement of Ford's 2019 lineup was a bombshell for some, it seems that the automaker is acting in response to what its customers have shown they want. Just two hours from Nashville, this hidden treasure invites your family to come out and spend the day driving through the park seeing these animals and many more. Read on to learn more about this family fun attraction. History of the Park Tennessee Safari Park was once a farm owned by the Conley family. The farm, called Hillcrest, produced numerous types of crops and continues to produce cotton today. The family's animal collection began with Claude H. Conley I, who gathered peafowl, pheasants, and deer to the family acreage. The tradition continued with his son, Claude M. Conley, who dreamed from an early age of owning a zoo. At the age of 10, he began his collection with two peacocks, then went on to later purchase the first herd of buffalo in the state of Tennessee. more After bringing in a variety of antelope and zebras, Claude Sr. and his sons, Claude H. II and Jon Wesley, decided to open the park in 2007. Their vision was to share these rare and endangered animals with the world and to bring a top family attraction to west Tennessee. Today there are over 60 different species in the park, meaning it has one of the largest collections of zoo animals in the state. Activities The park features a 5.5-mile drive-through safari. You can purchase feed buckets at the beginning of the trek and feed the animals you encounter along the way. The animals are said to be friendly and gentle, but as they are wild animals, they can be unpredictable at times. Children and adults will love seeing giraffes, zebras, and camels crowd around your vehicle to get a look at what's inside. The park also has a 20-acre zoo area where you can see primates, reptiles, exotic birds, tapirs, and other animals. There's a petting zoo inside as well, where you can interact with pygmy goats, chickens, and llamas. When you get hungry, head over to the Safari Grill for a hamburger, hot dog, or plate of nachos. To pick up a souvenir commemorating your visit, be sure to check out the gift shop right next door to the concession stand. Park Specifics Tennessee Safari Park is located at 618 Conley Road in Alamo, Tennessee. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the last cars allowed in the park at 4 p.m. On Sunday, hours are from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $16 per adult and $12 per child, with children aged one and under admitted free. Feed buckets are available at the ticket booth for less than $5 apiece. The park only takes cash, so be sure to visit an ATM on your way there. Exhibits There are many exhibits to take in on your visit, including some permanent displays and others traveling exhibits. " Sing Me Back Home " is one of the museum's most popular permanent exhibits and provides a historical timeline of the emergence of the country scene going back to its early roots. You can find vintage audio recordings and photographs that show the influencers who have shaped country music. While there are multiple exhibits that will come through the museum throughout the year, some of the recent ones included an exhibit dedicated to Blake Shelton and one to Dierks Bentley. Shelton's exhibit takes you through his upbringing in Oklahoma through to his dramatic rise to stardom, featuring artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia.
